Characteristics

This method is usually used in a twin-screw extruder, in which the extruded material is cut and strand into particles. Water is used to cool particles, so it is suitable for applications that require material cooling. Suitable for the production of most plastic particles. Such as PP,PE color master batch,engineering plastics, high temperature modification PA, PEI etc.

What kind of plastics should be processed?

Water-cooling strand pelletizing is suitable for most common plastic materials, especially those not easily affected by high temperature or heat sensitivity. 

Here are some common types of plastics suitable for water-cooling strand pelletizing: 

Polyethylene (PE): including low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE), etc. 

Polypropylene (PP): polypropylene is a common plastic material, which is suitable for water-cooling strand pelletizing.

Polystyrene (PS): including general-purpose polystyrene (GPPS) and high impact polystyrene (HIPS).

Polyether ether ketone (PEEK): this high-performance engineering plastic usually needs to be granulated at a lower temperature.

Air cooling strand pelletizing

 

Characteristics

Similar to water strand pelletizing granulation, but in this method, the air cooling is used to cool the particles. This method is suitable for some heat-sensitive materials  and some hydrophilic materials, or some water-degradable materials,because it does not require the use of water for cooling. 

What kind of plastics should be processed?

PLA+PBAT+corn starch or other bio-degradable(such as PSM) compounding and some hydrophilic materials such as PVA, PVOH ,EVOH etc.

Polyester resin (PET): PET is a common plastic commonly used in the manufacture of bottles and fibers. It is easy to decompose at high temperature, so it is suitable for air-cooled drawing and granulation. 

Polycarbonate (PC): PC is a high performance engineering plastic, which is sensitive to high temperature. Therefore, air cooling strand pelletizing is an effective way of granulation. 

Polyoxymethylene (POM): POM may be degraded at high temperature, so air cooling strand pelletizing is a suitable granulation method. 

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE): PTFE is a low-friction, high-temperature material, so air cooling strand pelletizing is suitable to maintain its properties. 

Polyether ether ketone (PEEK): PEEK is a kind of high performance plastic, which is very sensitive to high temperature, so air-cooled strip granulation is a suitable choice. 

Polysulfone (PSU/PPSU): these high-temperature plastics remain stable at high temperatures, so they are suitable for granulation with air cooling strand pelletizing. 

It should be noted that air cooling strand pelletizing is usually used for plastics that need to be extruded at high temperatures to avoid material decomposition.

Air cooling hot face pelletizing

 

Characteristics

This is a method of using air to cut extruded materials into particles. It is suitable for some viscous materials because the air can effectively separate the particles. 

What kind of plastics should be treated? 

Air cooling hot face pelletizing is suitable for some specific plastic materials, usually those that are soft or viscous at high temperatures. 

What kind of plastics should be processed?

PE + CaCO3 fillers: filling percentage 80%CaCO3, air cooling die face pelletizing is avaliable.

PE+CaO industry desiccant(moisture absorption master batch): air cooling die face pelletizing is necessary.

Rigid polyvinyl chloride (PVC): although water-cooled granulation is usually available for PVC, it is also possible to use air cooling hot face pelletizing in special cases. 

Hard plastics: some hard plastics may be easier to cut at high temperatures, so air cooling hot face pelletizing can be an effective way of granulation. 

The most suitable granulation method needs to be determined according to the specific plastic type, production demand and extrusion equipment.

Characteristics

This method involves cutting the extruded material through the water ring die surface. 

This method is suitable for the production of high viscosity or high temperature materials, because the water ring mold surface can effectively cool and cut the material. 

What kind of plastics should be treated? 

The water ring hot face pelletizing is suitable for some specific plastic materials, usually those that are easy to adhere at high temperature or need to be cut after cooling. 

Here are some common types of plastics suitable for water ring hot face pelletizing: 

Heat-sensitive plastics: the water ring hot face pelletizing is suitable for heat-sensitive plastics that need to be cut at lower temperatures to avoid material decomposition.
